So my Tyga (I know its old news the rothmans but a dream of mine so I'm slowly getting it together, CBrr600r front end, HeL brakes etc, one kidney left...) anyway I acquired this loom from Japan, looks like the MC21 loom with all the correct parts for the road but came with a [img][img][/img][/img]HRC not for road use "igniter" which I took for the CDI unit. Indeed it fits the square blocks but as you can see the harness and the "igniter" connections are both male....
Shying away from the whole "Identifies as" discussion does anyone know if a) I have bought a lemon and b) how I can connect two males if that is the way to go?
TBH initially I was going to run ignitech and do it all myself as I do with my Yams but as finding a curve etc seems impossible I thought play it safe to start with, get a standard loom in for the running gear and hopefully also for the ignition..
Any pearls of wisdom much appreciated - thanks in advance
Doug
It does the same as the wire splice, plugs into the pgm,i got mine from tsr years ago,as the internet wasnt even a thing, mine was the full race wiring loom though,so no lights, ignition etc _________________ ive seen more tarts than mr kipling
The photo's very small, but it appears you have a stock harness there, modified to accept the HRC delimiter.
The PGM-III (ECU) has two sockets on, one black and one white, that those connectors plug in to...
The HRC harness doesn't have any of the wiring for equipment a road bike would need, such as lights, horn, indicators etc, nor the black ECU connector, and instead has only the white 16P plug and two grey 8-pin Sumitomo connectors, that the HRC delimiter would normally plug into.
Now, the contentious part...
The HRC delimiter is nothing more than a wire-splice in a pretty box! Having said that though, numerous times we have seen bikes running standard harnesses with grafted in HRC delimiters experiencing engine failures (plural!) and/or running issues, that have be solved by removing the delimiter, repairing the harness, and performing a straightforward wire-splice. This may be coincidental, but as I say, we've known more than one bike that experienced failures with an HRC delimter spliced in, that didn't fail once it was removed... even though it's "just a wire-splice"!
I've used Cycle Terminal many times, and the service has been flawless. Shipping is very fast to the UK.
I thought Ignitech provided a base map for the NSR250R? Where in the UK are you based? StephenRC45 at Performance Engineering in Plymouth has experience setting up an Ignitech on an MC21. He's often rather sparing with info on the phone, if you can actually get hold of him, but there's no-one better in the UK to set an NSR up. _________________ Andy.

Hi All - brilliant many thanks, that clears things up for sure - I may well go the Ignitech route after all if I can get a base map as can then tweak her on the dyno easier - so if anyone wants a look LOL look me up ! again, many thanks...
Do you not have a PGM-III? What are your plans? The PGM-III is remarkably good for a stock ECU, and capable of running tuned motors well in excess of 70rwhp. It is, of course, a 30 year old ECU, and some of the components inside can occasionally fail, but that's normally due to high resistance within the circuitry associated with poor maintenance of the RC Valve.
The Ignitech will come into its own more with a 300 kit, but there are things integrated into the PGM-III that it can't do/are not adjustable, so the amount of control you actually have is finite.
However, if the PGM-III is missing, then an Ignitech is the logical choice, as it tends to be about 1/2-2/3 the cost of a used PGM these days! _________________ Andy.

Andy, now you've peaked my interest. Can you expand further on how the ignitech comes into its own on the 300 kit. Or point to an old thread that does so. Obviously if there is more tweeting I can be doing to my bike I need to explore it. !!!
