No problem using either. The original part [31600-KY2-703] has been superceded by 31600-MV4-010.
They're crazy expensive, but I'd strongly advise always using a genuine Honda/Shindengen part. Ensure there's no corrosion in the connector block on the wiring harnes, and that the regulator is in good contact with the mount for the best heat dissipation. _________________ Andy.

I'd recommend getting newer-tech series-circuit RR such as Shindengen SH775 or SH847. They don't run stator @100% fulltime like old shunt-circuit RR. Lots less heat to wear out stator and actual gains some Hp and mileage!
I've heard of people fitting a newer MOSFET type reg/rec (for something like a VFR or CBR), but never done it myself. It will be good to hear about any practical experiences on an NSR.
