Heavy Throttle

Fri May 17, 2024 11:44 pm » Post: #1 » Download Post

Hi there,
I am new to the NSR250 (MC21) with about 300 miles under my belt. This is my first 2 stroke and I was just wondering if the throttle's are typically heavy for some reason and if it is required to run both throttle cables to work with the PGMIII?

Thanks!

Hello Rogue555, and welcome to NSR-WORLD.COM Smile

Two cables aren't technically a requirement, but there really shouldn't be any reason to remove one. As Zeus says, replace them, or clean & lubricate them and check the routing. The throttle shouldn't be particularly heavy normally.

Ahh, Ok! I suppose I should splurge for factory Honda cables instead of the Slinky Glide versions. I like this bike too much to go cheap. Smile

I thought this forum was dead, thank you so much for the quick replies!!

Nope, we're still here, much to the chagrin of some, but we're "the originals" and starting to thin out a bit now! I've been around NSR's since the early 90s, and running NSR-WORLD.COM since late 2000 (nsr250.com from '95-'99), and a number of the members that float in and out from time-to-time have been around as long as me. Even the relative newbies here have dived in big-time, with full restorations largely completed, so there's usually someone not far away with either an answer to most questions, or who can point you to a topic that's already covered the situation.

Please feel free to browse through the Members' Garage and add your bike, and post a topic about it if you wish.

I am currently re-writing/modernising the site, but please check though the Workshop and Technical pages, and you can find our English Parts List here. Please be aware that there are some inaccuracies in the English Parts List, so be sure to cross-reference part numbers with the relevant Japanese manuals here.

Finally, please check the Members' Content for our Honda Approved English Service Manuals.*

Please note *ALL* English translations of any NSR250R Service Manual or NSR250R Parts List originate from NSR-WORLD.COM, and we are the only Honda approved resource for these manuals. Bootlegged manuals you may find other than those on this website are incomplete.

Cables

My cable were getting a bit rough so I replaced them about a year ago. I wasn't able to find new Honda cables, but did see that T2 Racing makes them. Quality is excellent, you can even get them in different colors.
