Found the ad through Ebay.uk directly and messaged the seller.
Thanks to both of you.
PS. Still looking for a confirmation or correcion of my previously posted air correction schematic and further informaition about the mentioned tachometer problems.
Hey guys.
Compression on my nsr semed suspiciously low, since i got it.
Borrowed a compression tester from a friend and my suspicion was confirmed.
35 psi on the front cyl. and 40 psi on the rear one.
My last hope is, that the poor compression is caused by the rings being stuck in their grooves from some oil or coke sitting in there for many years.
On the other hand, i got the bike running for a few minutes, some months ago, which should have resolved the stickiness.
so thatīs propably a very thin straw, im hanging onto.
Went on the hunt for some replacement pistons and found some alternatives.
one 400$ top end rebuild kit from tyga
one 140Ģ set of mitaka pistons and rings on ebay
and one 40Ģ set of unbranded pistons on ebay from china. (offer name on ebay is "Racing Piston Ring Kit for Honda NSR250 MC16 MC18 MC21 MC28 Sets")
obviously the latter has a extremely high chance of bein straight up garbage. Still, Iīm somewhat curious, about what you can expect for such a price.
Now which of the two more serous options should I go after?
I think, I got most of my problems sorted out.
Plumbed the air coorrecion setup, by my schematic. seems to work.
Got the Tachometer running.
I went on a very quick test drive yesterday.
Found out i was leaking coolant all over the place.
I donīt have a coolant reservoir. if a can get one for a reasonable price, it will be fittet.
Untill then the Overflow hoses from the radiator and Thermostat housing were simply routed out of the bottom of the bike.
The overflow of the thermostat housing was the one leaking all the coolant.
Iīm not entirely sure, what this port does. Suspecting itīs for pulling coolang back in the system, when is has been pushed out.. but there should be a checkvalve or something in there for my understanding.
Now is it okay, to just block the port off, for the time that i donīt have an overflow reservoir?
or what would you do with that ?
The diagram on page 5.0 of our NSR250R English Service Manual shows the hose leading off the thermostat, and shows the spigot on the top [rear] cylinder head, but it's not clear that the hose should connect to it! However, it does!
The MC16 is the only model with this setup. Later models have the main [rear] cylinder head spigot in a different orientation. I think the small hose is to aid bleeding of the coolant system. _________________ Andy.
