It always amazes me, given how prevalent Spaniards were in Grand Prix in the 80s and 90s, that the Japanese marques never sold their 2-strokes in Spain. Obviously, we never got the NSR or TZR (from 1988)... i.e. the best of the 2-strokes, but did get the RGV, KR1, and Aprilia RS. _________________ Andy.

Also an extremely tidy (almost) stock looking bike. I remember my friend having one in the same colours about 35 years ago, with Swarbricks on it, and it sounded great! In fact, when he sold it, I bought his plain white Arai Rapide off him, and still have it in the cupboard! _________________ Andy.

Is that a tiny bit of clutch slip I heard creeping in? Looks like a great bit of road, and proves you don't need 1000cc and ballistic speeds to have huge fun! _________________ Andy.

For your information, in Spain Japanese bike were forbidden by the government until 1984 to protect national brands like, Montesa, Bultaco, Derbi, Ossa, Rieju (still alive), and so many others.
This manufacturers produced bikes with mid-reliable 2 stroke engines. When Japanese arrived EVERBODY was interested in 4 stroke engines, no one wanted 2 stroke anymore.
Only in Japanese motocross bikes customers were interested in 2 stroke.
Japanese manufacturers saw this scene and considered street 2 stroke bikes like a marginal market.
