I have a 91 MC21 SE, I just bought a used motor and installed it. After a few kicks the thing started up and was running. I shut it off and started again, and so on and so on. I felt confident that the bike would run so I decided to go to the gas station to fill up the tank with some premium gas. As I pull out the drive way, I forgot to open the fuel valve so the bike stutters and dies. Now I can't get the damn thing to start up again. What could be the problem. Any help/advise would be greatly appretiated.
Open the fuel vavle?
Put fuel in the tank?
Try push-starting it?
Check the plugs? _________________ MC28 SE -sold-

Keep it on reserve. The ON switch needs a few liters of petrol for it to flow. All it needs is a jump start. The fact it was running then died. It should only be that. Unless there is no fuel filter/strainer, then it would clog the carb. Because when at ON, the fuel passes through the higher intake hose in the tank. The reserve passes throught the bottom part of the hose or fuel cock. Definitely not something to panic on. Just a bummer getting it to fire again, might take you the whole street block. _________________ ride it like a horse
To check the fuel is getting to the carbs, open the float bowl drains a bit and ensure fuel flows from them. If it doesn't, you have a fuel problem!
If that's good, check you are getting a spark. _________________ MC21SP Plaything

Did you do what I suggested? And the results? _________________ MC21SP Plaything

It's a miracle..I finally got it to start up. I had to hook it up to my buddies car and we practically dragged it for 1/2 km for it to start up. But now theres another problem, the bike picks up very poorly and you need to play with the throtttle and clutch (very high RPMS) in order to get it going or it will stall. My current mods are: wire splice, tyga pipes/cans, carbon reeds, modded airbox. I live in Canada so do you think that the weather could be affecting the performance since it is colder here (26-29^C avg.).
And yes Dave I did try the things you told me,maybe thats what got it going thanks alot.
Also does it matter which order of the wires for the coil connectors.
It sounds like the jetting may be out if there's no power. Do you know what jets are in the carbs? Has it been set up to match the mods you've done? _________________ MC21SP Plaything

I thought that too, but why would running out of fuel sieze the bike - assuming he's running an oil pump? _________________ MC21SP Plaything
