At the front of my airbox there is a matchbox sized open top box with a drain hole and a hose connection under neath. What is this for and where does the other end of the hose go?

i am pretty sure that the overflow pipe from the petrol tank drains into that box
the pipe from that box should exit under the bike preferably not onto the tyre

Nigel is correct. It's the overflow catch for the gas tank. The drain hose on mine is routed to the wire hose keeper under the left rearset.
