Hello, I dont use mine that much but parts dont seem to be to expensive, tyga is a good sourse. there is a maintinace guide on this site. and if it stall in traffic, kick it again LOL or fall off and blame someone for your accident. that should save face. welcome by the way your in good hands here, nothing but the best for your NSR, there's always someone who knows something...
The best way to keep future maintenance to a minimum is to make sure it's running well in the first place.
When you get it, give it a good going over and fix any niggly problem it may have. Get it compression tested to give you an idea on ring/piston condition etc.
Change the gear oil before you go anywhere. If the oil that's in there is really mucky then it may be worthwhile to change the oil, then change it again almost straight away to flush it out. You'll then be safe (ish) in the knowledge that it's clean and slippery inside there.
Also, drain out the 2T oil and refill with a quality brand, even if the previous owner insists that he used the best stuff. You never know what's really in there and a new top end is far more pricey than a litre of two stroke oil.
Same goes for the coolant. Even if it looks green and clean, flush it through and refill. Check coolant level immediately when you start the bike for the first time (before the water gets hot) and top up if necessary.
Change the brake fluid, check pads, adjust the chain tension if necessary and give the tyres a kick.
When you're satisfied that it's all good fill it up with juice and take it for a spin.
This is a good one, when I got my '28 it had some nasty squared of 120/160 tyres on, a buddy of mine has a mate who races 125's so I got some 110/150 D208gp's cheap, took my wheels of and....
3 front brake pads fell out, the backing plate stayed there but the material just fell onto the floor and broke!
Then I took the back wheel off to see the material on one side 2/3rds of the way out of the caliper, once again backing plate still held in.
I nearly needed a full set of discs to go with the 2 pistons, 2 replates, 1 repair, 1 head, 1 HRC jet kit, 1 air filter, 1 chain, 1 front sprocket, 1 gear selector shaft, 1 clutch, 1 throttle body and all the ancillaries that are needed to fit that little lot that it had needed already.

The condition was pretty good except for these damages:
front cowl was cracked on the edge about a 6-8 cm crack but still intact, but not visible unless you look at from like 30cm away, there was a small dent in the silencer just where it connects with the chamber, and there was no passenger seat, also to me it looked like the front rotor was slightly bent not perfectly straight, any suggestions? the guy at the shop kick started it and started on the first try. First few 10 seconds let out some smoke then it idled at normal and maintained! also on the rear seat cowl it usually has a sticker thats says gull arm or pro arm but this one said prospec arm, whats that?
They said they did a full over haul chain, clutch, front forks,, etc..
I just had a question was the little switch(adjusts something but dont know what). Its located just above the gear shifter?? What was that cuz the guy was adjusting it when he started it up??
the only thing that i can think of that is above the gear shifter is the gear position sensor but why he would have to fiddle with that to get it started i have no idea. _________________ MC21SP - Roth-tax

VERY nice indeed, I have an se at the moment and i think someone will confirm they dont have pillion seats, its a single seat unit. as for the fiddling if it was a bit higher it could have been the fuel tap. otherwise no idea.
SEs should have a little rubber pad thing for the pillion like all the other models and pillion pegs hidden under the tail unit, think you will probably find its just Hondas way of putting something tech sounding on the side of the bike. monkey thats intresting???? My SE has a sigle seat unit!!!!! My R has the assosiated holes in the top for the pad and the strap (which i hacked off LOL) but the se is smooth one pieace center bit!!!! what about the SP ??? is that a single seat? or do you think someone somewhere has filled it in and painted it? Ill know soon enough as im taking the SE apart over the next few days (well fairing first)
my SP panels that went on my R when i sold it had the slots for the pillion seat.

Well.............Ill have to look for sure now, I can see the front stuff is all fiberglass but the rear looks original and feels it (if you know what i mean) but it sounds like its been filled!!!!!! dosent it, Oh well ill have a look tonight ill take that bit off next!
