MC18 Carb set up

Wed Feb 18, 2004 10:58 pm » Post: #1 » Download Post

Im soon going to be fitting a set of tyga pipes to my MC18. Does anyone have any rough ideas what size main jet i might be needing (just for a starting point). At the moment im running 132 up from 128 stock. The bike was fitted with swanbrick cans and mod'ed air box lid. It made good power like that and the jetting was real close to perfect. Should i be looking at least one size up or maybe 2 as a starting point with the new system? Any advice would be grand to get me started.

Cheers Stephen

You could hardly do any better than to ask Matt about a base setting for the MC18 with TYGA pipes.

Matt hails from southern England so appreciates the climate here, and I'm sure will give you a starting point on the jetting.

Don't expect him to commit to a specific jet size front/rear though!

Personally, if the bike is running well/clean and currently making good power, I'd fit the pipes, do a plug chop and take it from there. In our climate a 2 size increase in MJ usually covers a pipe swap from stock to race.

Andy.
