I contacted a seller on ebay (motofairings) from China that is currently selling a pattern MC28 fairing for £200. He said they could supply MC18 (and others I guess). Has anyone tried them?
Is that the Hong Kong seller with all the race replica bodywork for a bunch of sportbike models? I was wondering about them as well. I recall someone posting to another site that the quality was pretty good and he was pleased with the transaction. Cheers.
these fairings do look good, however the sellers feedback is suspect, all but one of 100 positives are no longer registered users which dont look good, i suppose paypal payments are fairly safe though, has anyone used these people ? or any of the similar sellers on ebay ?
I recently purchased 2 sets of bodywork from a HK seller, and frankly think they are crap. I won't be recommending the stuff to anyone, that's for sure.
There was good money to be made by the supplier, had he been true to his word, as the bikes the bodywork was for were due to be featured in Performance Bikes, but the door has been left wide open again now.
If you want very cheap, very heavy, replica painted GRP, then I suppose you can give it a shot (it may not even be the same guy), but I will be going elsewhere. _________________ Andy.

Definitely paint original panels if you can. Nothing, and I mean absolutely NOTHING fits like the OEM stuff.
I am trying to collect a full set of good OEM plastic together for my 21 now. The HK stuff will have to do for the time being, but only because the bike was blown over in the gales in the spring, and the condition of the Repsol bodywork is finally past its sell by date! _________________ Andy.

I agree with Andy OE stuff is the best, but it is hard to find and expensive if you can find any. Most second hand stuff is damaged and the mountings are broken.
I have ordered a set of bodywork from a guy on ebay. Adiplast or something like that. He has been very helpful and nothing is too much trouble. I know he has sold a race set to someone on here, and they were happy with it. He is putting a flow coat on the inside of the panels to get a smoother finish for me. The stuff was sent out yesterday, so i,ll let you know what its like when i get it.
The cost for a fairing and seat unit with the extra flow coat and postage was £170.
As Andy knows I also really love the OE body work. I picked up parts for my Terra from all over the world and it slipped together perfectly.
The HK stuff is far from perfect and does take quite a bit of fitting. As a side note the Tyga body is much better but then quite a bit more exspensive.
However once the HK body work is fitted up, cleaned up, and all the smaller problems are over come the result is a rather tidy bike.

I think you have to put it into perspective like Stephen hints at. What can you expect for £170?? Someone has produced, painted and shipped a set of bodywork, that is around £1200 plus for OEM, at a fraction of the cost.
If I had a budget I wanted to work to, and this was what I was looking for, then it's a huge bargain, you can't pick holes in it like you're paying £400 for the plastics and another £800 for paintwork...

I recently got a fairing set from ebay seller 'Adiplast', and for £105 I thought it was excellent value (thats not including the seat unit). The panels are quite thick and heavy for fibreglass copies (not like proper race stufF), but then they are similar OEM plastic stuff. You can see it fits an OEM top section perfectly;
Fit looks OK, though I have lumps of engine and pipes in the way, so it'll need some reworking......

Had it been as straightforward as that Max, I would've agreed.
As it was, I was in constant communication with the seller, supplied all the vector graphic files (which have either been cut in the incorrect colours or applied incorrectly), specified everything required each step of the way, explained the bodywork would be promoted via NSR-WORLD, events we attend, and at various F250 meetings, and also that the 2 bikes were already promised a feature in Performance Bikes magazine.
I also told the seller we were prepared to pay more for a first class job, and that we would promote the bodywork (provided he met the standard we required) at a higher cost than he was currently selling at, to make it more profitable for him - even then it would still have been by far the cheapest option for painted GRP for NSR-WORLD members.
To top it off, the kits arrived with ridiculous "GP" front fenders that we never asked for, and a whole host of flaws in the lacquer!
Stephen is far too forgiving. At the end of the day the seller agreed to everything I asked of him, and delivered none of it. Yeah, from 10' away Steve's F3 looks great, and those who have an idea of what it is spend more time looking at things like the rear brake, instruments, ignition system etc., than at its clothes, but when you spend hours designing the graphics and nigh on weeks talking to the company about the advertising and sales possibilities, and only then can you appreciate how crap the end product is.
The point isn't what we paid for it, the point is that the seller is incapable of fulfilling his obligations that were agreed to PRIOR to the contract & payment being finalised. I can go on more, but I think you can get my point from this! If he was unable to meet the requirements, he had every opportunity along the way to stop the proceedings, and I confirmed absolutely everything, every step of the way.
I personally cannot justify the cost of the TYGA bodywork. It is good, and it fits fairly well (in fact, very well for GRP), but OEM pattern bodywork is in the region of £350~400 before shipping. The only thing in their favour is that they make designs not available in the UK - no good for me when I want OEM shape bodywork though! Add to that paint and graphics, then it's hardly cost effective, especially on the race bike. _________________ Andy.

I thought I'd secured a superb deal not only for ourselves, but for all the NSR-WORLD Members when we finally "shook hands" as it were!
We were looking to provide painted race or road bodywork at a substantial saving, and make the seller more profitable at the same time.
Unfortunately it seems to be a typical Asian trait... think about the money now, and not future potential. (Japan excepted.) _________________ Andy.
