Hello All !
New to the site and new to the NSR. Wanted a 250 stroker again after 16yrs in the bore stoke wilderness. Trawled the web and the country and found this beauty which now lives in my garage next to a big fat daddy Suzuki SV1000S.
Cheers Andy ! You're not joking...that's why I saw it and had to have it. It's only done 5.5k km's ! Amazing condition for a nigh on 12 year old bike...I haven't even had chance to ride it yet but if it's anything like the KR-1 i had all those years ago I can't bloody wait !!!
It won't quite perform like the KR1, but the handling and brakes will be out of this world compared to what you remember a 250 to be like, and compared to the SV!
You can free up a little HP very easily and cheaply though, which is covered in depth on the Forum (quite recently too) if you do a search.
To make the MC28 go as it should though you will be wanting pipes, an HRC ignition card and wiring harness (or modified harness if you want to run lights), a modified airbox and a jet kit. With a bike that clean and original though, you will probably not be wanting to butcher it... hence the need for another one! _________________ Andy.

Andy Andy Andy !!! Scaring me now !
You're a bloody mind reader...that's exactly what i'm thinking after staring at it constantly for the last couple of weeks.
Chambers and carbon cans with a bit of carb tinkering, if needed, is as far as I want to take it tuning wise. Rearsets because they just look well cool and that's about it. Was thinking about a race rep paint job but I'm starting to really like the standard ! Less is more with this one I reckon.
There's over 60hp in the motor but you will need the HRC card and harness (or modify the stock one) as well to get it. It will also be the smoothest 60+hp you'll see from any 2-stroke, making the ride very deceptive.
Without the card you will struggle to get much over mid 50's, but once you ride one in/over the mid 60's you'll never want anything less!
Until you ride a sorted one, your stock MC28 will be perfect! _________________ Andy.

Nice one !
Suspension mods are on my list too...rebuild the stock front and probably replace the rear as they feel well undersprung for big western european me ! I'm guessing this is the norm as they're sprung for the far east ?
Had my SV resprung last year and it changed the bike completely ! It now laughs at the Craner Curves At Donington !!! Heheheeee !!!

This is actually a lie, I've got both an HRC carded one and a normal carded one and I've got the HRC card for the one I run on the normal card. I don't even think I'm alone in this...Leigh, your Fortuna's still on the std card?
For a road bike in my book the normal card stays.
It's a very pretty bike you've got there for sure, not sure how much I'd modify that, if at all. I was more than a little surprised how well my road '28 goes, OK it's got derestricted pipes, opened airbox and an entire mc21 engine/carbs but I'd expected it to be really flat with the std PGMIV and it's just not.

Thats very nice bd, did it come from Fastline or off the forum, would get a spare fairing if you were going to get another paint job, standard would be much easier to sell if it comes to that later.
how ya doing rs_bott !?
it was the best one out of the two at fastline. i was in turmoil for a couple of weeks about spending so much on a 12year old bike and the fact I was spending the new windows and doors money !
But the bloke there owns one himself, spent ages talking to him about his. Rang him up a few days later, did a bit of haggling, got some new tyres, got it delivered and it was done !
I'm not gonna touch the paint. More I think about it more it's a silly idea as it's so bloody nice as it is.
Hi and welcome to a great site lots of help on here I have mc28 I in the process of restoreing hopefully on the road next year if you go squires cafe at sherburn you will spot me as I also live in Leeds .Bike looks a minter I bought mine for looks over speed but will be trying the mods on mine that Andy mentions going with standard card pipes and mc21 mag wheel first but will swap tp 030 card later and take off the mc21 mag .hope to see about when the sun returns .
Hello Mr Oiley !!!
I can't deny I frequent the cafe of a sunny time of day. My mate owns the speedstyle shop round the back ! Can be handy for the odd item....
Been going down there for nigh on 20yrs...man and boy...haha !!!
Look forward to talking NSR stuff over a frothy coffee !
Good decision on such an immaculate bike spoke to the same guy a few weeks back, (loves the NSR's)going to see what comes in after the new year, as i think they are sourcing new bikes soon, trouble is they usually leave all the ads on the site after they sell the existing stock of bikes.
Although yours has gone off the site now, the VJ23 RGV sold months ago, but they're a long way from me to just pop in and have a look.
