From MC21 ECU to MC28 in a MC21

Sun Dec 23, 2007 11:25 am » Post: #1 » Download Post

So...

Let’s say that I want to convert my MC21 and install, the HRC wiring harness from an MC28 along with the MC28 ECU and clocks... Will this work...? Don't ask me why I want to do this...!!! Probably because I am stupid...!!!!LOL
If this work, can I use also, the HRC card for better performance or it's better to use the standard card as the mc21 flywheel and stator are better that the mc28's...
I am very curious...!!!

Yes it will work but if you want to use a HRC card you will need to use a MC28 flywheel.

Thanks Stephen...

Unfortunately I can't find an MC28 to buy here in Greece so, I will pretend that I am driving one when I’m looking on my dash...!!!! How pathetic I am...!!! LOL...!!!!

A stock '21 engine/carbs etc. attached to a PGMIV on the std card goes pretty well. Mine (a std '28 with a stock '21r engine/carbs, opened up std '28 pipes, modded airbox) shocked me, I was expecting it to be really flat like an unspliced '21 is and it's just not.

General consensus tends to be that the std carded PGMIV itself is worse for outright grunt than a PGMIII and just swapping flywheels to a '21 does not really fix this.
The problem is of course that very few people have done it and the '28 is restricted in other places (pipes, airbox, lower ported barrels) so the whole thing is just a pain.
Andy always says they're worse but that's just based on Leigh's bike making 54(?)bhp, however Leigh's has a std airbox and that kills anything stone dead anyway.
