Seen some of your work and it looks extremely good!

I'll be sending some stuff to you in the future.

How much for engine cases for a start?

Since I got my blast cabinet I've bead blasted everything in sight. Brings cases up like new. Well, better than new.

The pics on matey's site don't do it justice. You have to see and feel it in the flesh. Well worth it.

Hmmm... may need to get the F3 frame vapour blasted then in that case!

Anyone got a "good-as-new" Gull Arm they want to sell? Confused

Not exactly sure how to approach my MC21 F3 frame.

The cast sections aren't the same as the stock frame; they have a duller appearance to them similar to the later RS frames. Not quite like magnesium, but not like the normal shiny anodised frames either.

I think the frame will actually come up really well with soapy water and a bit of treatment with ACF50. It's the swingarm that's niggling me as there is a small gouge on the brace where a silencer rubbed it once and a mark under the "gull" where a non-sleeved Goodridge line has rubbed against it... that'll teach me!! well andy if i was doing the frame etc i would mask the beam sections off and just clean the cast sections on head and lower sections will bring it up like new witha nice satin finnish, swing arm i would just do whole thing or maybe mask most of it off and just do the parts where marks are and see how it comes out, and failing that do whole swing arm then polish it up with rest of the masked are on frame would look nice.

Yeah, I had the cast sections on a previous arm blasted and they looked great, but the extrusions are anodised and have a brushed look to them that I would like to keep. I.e. I want to restore it to new-look condition. (I'm pissed off with seeing bikes like Nigel's Rossi Mugello and Paul G's Pentax when mine looks like something that's been dragged out of the Severn!!) if you polished the extruded sections and clean the cast sections it would look as good as you could get it without powdercoating it or painting. ive seen the rc30 frame once it was polished and have to say it did look the part. maybe a good idear to get a clean looking bike

Don't despair Andy! my swinging arm had a nasty gouge on the brace caused by a rubbing silencer, it polished out quite easily and then I gave it a grained finish using scotchbrite and wd40 to blend it in with the original anodising.

mine looks like something that's been dragged out of the Severn!!
I think mine had spent some time in there when i bought it! Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy

Definitely don't want to polish the extrusions -- I'm not a big fan of that look. The MC16 F3 frame may get polished, because the HRC bikes of that era were polished too, but not the MC21.

My cabinet is only a baby one. I couldn't get a frame in it.

It's basically a sand blast cabinet, but I mostly use glass on a low pressure. Quite time consuming, but I'm doing it to please myself, not a money making venture.

Back when Gandma was a boy and I worked in the cloudy valleys of The Chilterns, the place I worked had a massive vapour blasting cabinet. It certainly wasn't unusual to see a big box of engine bits etc hidden under the bench for a bit of 'pocket money' when the boss went home Wink

The stuff that came out was quite frankly excellent.
