MC16 forks question

Thu Feb 28, 2008 5:35 am » Post: #1 » Download Post

Helloo All.

What weight fork oil?
Also, when you check fork oil level, do you have the weight on the bike, or do you have it on the stand?

Cheers

Generally when I have checked fork oil/rebuild forks, I tend to do it with the forks off the bike. I have seen people replace springs/shims in their forks with the forks on, but their not replacing fluids, or checking anything with the fluids.

If your going to do it with the forks on the bike, I would probably think you want to suspend the bike from the triple tree so you have no weight on the forks.

you can use what ever weight fork oil you feel works best for you, as well as the amount. I think Andy was posting what Honda recommends in the factory manual.

You will find most suspension tuners will use oil weight and amount as a fine tuning of the forks performance.
