Air jet eliminator

Thu Mar 27, 2008 12:47 am » Post: #1 » Download Post

So I having a hard time finding Air jets. Since I broke my + style air jet I can't drive my bike. Is there a way to set the bike up to run without this? Any ideas?

That part should cost no more than about $20~$25 from a Honda dealer.

My Honda dealer can't get anything for an nsr unless it's a 50. And the part numbers from the listong on here either don't work or come back with some wierd ass things.

And the tuning section(from my understanding) says to use them and that new ones are even supplied with aftermarket and hrc jet kits.

He means Redline Powersports (http://www.redline-ci.com). Craig is based out of California and can get all NSR parts that are available.

Best make it clear which piece it is. Both rodney007 and bushman, from my understanding, are not talking about the correct part.

Also, stating what model it is may help too. I know it's not easy to know the correct terms all the time, but it is easy to make it a little less cryptic.

The MC28 part numbers on the carb page are wildly wrong, and the descriptions are poor. I will look into re-writing it over the summer. The MC16 and MC18 numbers/descriptions are fine though, as is most of the MC21. The part I suspect you are talking about is certainly listed OK for the MC18 and MC21.

I am talking about the + air jet that goes between the air solenoids and the carburetors for an 89 mc18r5k. I am from Canada and both honda dealers within reach of me turn up no listings when they look up the part numbers I've found on the parts diagram online. I will try redline.

Yes, that's the part I thought you were talking about... Page E14-1 #37, part number 16180-KV3-770.

You may find the best way to source that part now is to buy a used set of carbs. DO NOT run without it, or without fixing it. There is probably no reason why it cannot be glued back together. I would personally carefully glue it back together with superglue, and then key it up with a little rough sandpaper, and strengthen the repair with a little 2-part epoxy.

You could make a new X-piece, but the little jet in the X-piece is shaped (possibly for flow), and simply drilling a piece of brass the same size and pressing it into a non OEM X-piece may not have the desired results.
