What do you mean, which engine would we like to transplant into the NSR? Or which bits of all the enigines would we like (slipper clutch, fuel injection etc) _________________ MC21SP Plaything

If your going to remove the NSR engine, then it only stands to reason to go with an RS engine. Course you got to go pre right hand drive line (think 91 as Andy mentioned will work).
Don't be screwing a good thing up and putting a 4 stroke in there! (Hey, I still own 3 2 strokes and one is an NSR 28, so I haven't switched teams, just don't have a 2 stroke street bike anymore). _________________ Charles Gallant
Ah, come on, go ahead and include 4 strokes. Not many 2 strokes I can think of that I'd like more than an RS engine. If you go with a 4 stroke, what about the new Aprilia 450cc v-twin? If you couldn't go with the 2 stroke, I think the Aprilia engine would be ideal.
KTM has a killer 125 dirtbike engine. Seeing that the NSR engine is *almost* identical in porting to the 2000-2004 (pretty pathetic) CR125, I think that the KTM cylinders in a v-twin format would be awesome! Pair that with a better clutch and tranny than the NSR, and you would have a really good, strong engine. And it would be more reliable than the RS.
I would personally like to have the Tyga 300 kit, but am a little skeptic as to how the tranny will hold up. Get 70hp or more, and the NSR starts having some issues. _________________ Paul Herr

Well go big, I once read a article in Cycle World few years back about a Polaris engineer that put a twin 700cc Polaris Liberty snowmobile motor into his own frame with al Ducati gearbox. They where very impressed with the test ride. The motor was turn around with intakes in front and exhaust straight out the back, looked very cool. Ski Doo just came out with a FI twin 1000cc, that would be mine ! Still a 2 stroke, bing bing !!!!! _________________
Either an SV650 V-twin lump, or maybe the Rotax 450cc 2 stroke flat twin they use on microlights.
Might look a bit like a boxer BMW though... _________________ MC21SP Plaything

its got to be a race spec norton F1 rotary for me two stroke power with a noise to die for, and a 2ft flame to tow into roundabouts
i think they used to use the standard engine for target aircraft at one time.
got any kicking around dave?
Dunno, but how cool would that be?!
The racers never liked the twin much - I reckon there is a great road-track bike in that engine somewhere.
Looked long and hard to find one - on the basis that they were never really competetive so might be cheap?
No such luck... :?
Out of curiosity, does the NSRGV500V3 (could that name get any longer?!) wear NSR or RGV clothing?
Padgett's had some NSR500V's for sale a few years ago, one for about £17000 if I remember correctly. I thought £12k would've been a bargain for the ultimate street-racer, being as it wouldn't even need lights for a "daytime only" MOT/registration!
hmmmm, I would have too say the 1990 honda NR750 motor would be fine with me, even though it is a 4 stroke, but that 32 valve V4 makes an awesome sound
