Oil in the clutch

Thu May 29, 2008 8:05 pm » Post: #1 » Download Post

Hello everyone.

I have oil seeping into the dry clutch. Not much but enough for it to come from the small square mesh at the bottom of the cover and spray the right chamber and belly pan.
It's not the O ring on the push rod so Im changing the oil seal on the engine casing.
Is It big job with any pitfalls or shortcuts that anyone can give me advice on?
Very grateful for any advice,
Mal.

Not a big job Mal, but the side casing (and therefore clutch assembly) needs to come off to replace the main transmission seal.

It all comes apart very easily (you'll need a holding tool for the clutch hub), and is pretty self-explanatory when you get in there.

Don't over-torque the pressure plate bolts on reassembly, as you have a good chance of sheering the posts off! I've seen plenty of NSR hubs/clutches with a spring missing!

Thanks Andy. I'll do it as soon as I get a minute.

You want to do it sooner rather than later, or you will be adding the cost of a set of clutch plates to the list of parts too!
