Just purchased.Didn t believe at first it was an SP,but it seems to have all the bits and bobs that it should have.Fully adjustable front and rear shocks ,hieght adjustment,dry clutch.The engine has had a lot of mods done to it.Single ring pistons,ported,ignition system and wiring loom is for race.On the flywheel it has stamped NE5C FP8185.There is no kickstart it has been blanked off.There is no battery.the rectifier regulator is tiny (SH542B-12 8 n ) and plugs into a brown Nichicon 6800 which I ve been told acts as the battery ?It has no.10 plugs in it NGK s never seen plugs so short ?A ram air system,which takes air from the side of the fairing.The carbs have surely been played with ?The Pgm is mounted up front with the Rev counter.Its not a 2 or 3 it plugs into a silver metalic box ?No speedo just rev and HRC oil temp gauge.3.5/5.25 Magtecs.No sign of damage.I know they didn t make too many of these bikes.I believe 89 was the only year they made them.Does anyone know how many they produced ?I m sure this must be quite a collectable in original condition ?Was thinking of sticking the engine in a MC21R frame that I have,but I think I ve changed my mind and keep it as it is ?Will post pics soon.If anyone can give me some info on this bike,I would very much appreciate ?Frame no.MC18-1106064. _________________ My Bikes;

There could have not been that many as the '88 model only 3000 was produced and the '90 model only 2500 sp's were produced so make up a number between that and you have your answer
Well, it's not necessarily an R6K for a start... If maximum is all excited about having one of those, then that's the bad news... _________________ Andy.

Just re read Maximum's post and I'm gunning for an F3. First, 'kick start blanked off', the NF5 doesn't have any kickstart assembley. Second, the '89 NF5 airbox is fed from the front.....over the rad.
Yes I believe you re correct it is a RS,silly me ? At least its not one of them orrible 6k s eh Andy ?Very trick little bike ?Can someone give me an idear of the model and aprox year ?No number on the engine,just a frame no.

Don't look so hard, it's an MC18 from 1989, telling wheather it started out life as an R5k or R6k could be an impossible task as it's covered in so many parts from race manual. _________________ Please do not PM me technical questions, if you can't find it on the Forum start a thread
Is it worth swapping over to a MC21 frame or keeping it as original ? _________________ My Bikes;

should be good mate ive got ramair to fit as well but dump the single sided swinger and get yourself a gullarm _________________ ive seen more tarts than mr kipling
That looks like the same MC18 F3 stuff that I have.
Rad looks the same as the RS one that I`ve modified to fit.
From my point of view, it would be nice to keep the bike as original as you can.
It`s going to be special, whatever you decide to do.
Well done to you, nice find!
