Hi all,
Can anyboby put me on the right track,
how I can get or can anybody tell me the honda paint color codes to complete the Rothmans Honda paint scheme.
Colour Codes required are for the following:
Blue
Red
Gold
Yellow
White
Have you got any parts with the colours on them?if you have you can go to a auto paint factors and they can match them using colour swatches/chips/cards or they will use a spectrum analiyser, you wont need the paint codes.A car bodyshop can do the same for you.If someone has a pucker rothmans nsr there should be a little sticker in side the right hand fairing with the paint codes on it.
Honda only lists the base colour, in the case of Rothmans, white - NH196. The other colours (blue, red, gold etc.) were depicted with stickers, so there are no "official" colour codes, as far as I know, but... if I were brave enough, I'd take a guess that the fuel tank is based on an "R" model. That would make the blue PB231 "Real Blue".
Best bet, like Wayne says, is to take a panel (if you have an original) or a sticker (get a small Rothmans sticker from a Honda dealer) to a good auto-body repair/paint shop, and have them match it against their colour charts.
Of course, the other colours aren't necessarily standard either. The red on the race-bikes was almost fluorescent for example. For a true replica, you will need to match all the colours at the paint shop.
If you have the bodywork sprayed in the base coat NH196 Ross White, you can order the genuine sticker kit from Honda. Get the body-shop to apply the stickers and you can't go wrong! The sticker part numbers can be found in the Online Parts Manual.
If you are fitting aftermarket bodywork, such as TYGA's GP fairing, I'd recommend you simply buy each of the smallest coloured stickers from Honda. That way you will have a match for every colour, and the spray-shop can paint the stripes for you! The sickers on the top fairing, would probably be the smallest/cheapest, looking at the diagrams.
Hi all,
Thanks for your help,
Have ordered Rothmans decal kit from Paul at Tyga after endless searching and pricing. I was told that a full kit from Honda would be around £500 via Jo at Apex Leisure and decided that was too expensive.
I have the original panels (which have all been restored to a base primer, ready for colour) and have already done what you suggested which was to match at a good quality paint shop so I had colours as near to the panels as possible. I just thought that if I could get the proper codes it would be spot on. Thanks for the base color code I will get that ordered and start with that.
Another question I have and hope some body can answer is this.
Have got the front and rear nissin calipers on the bench ready to strip and refurbish, over the years the fluid and general lack of care has resulted in the caliper coating lifting in places, does anybody know what the coating is? Is it paint?
i think,i might be wrong and andy will tell me if i am that they are stove enamelled,i think they are as if it was 2pack the paint would soften up when the brakes get hot and discolour.stove enamell is baked at a much higher temp than 2pack.A mate of mine is a painter in the ford transit factory and repaints the transits that get damaged, they are painted in stove enamell(not 2 pack) and when they bake them if they dont cover up the plastic parts eg mirrors they melt on to the floor and his melted a few,if the dont unmask it before they bake the masking catches on fife .
