Just recovering from a back op and always wanted an NSR.
So next year i will be looking for one (no offers etc yet please!!), i will post in classifieds when i am in the position to buy.
Anyway, not sure what NSR i want, budget will be the main thing i think, around 2-2.5k, so what will i get for that? I would like a Rothmans paint job but will be looking at everything as a paint job can be done after.
Use wise i want to potter around on Sunday mornings, maybe a track day once per year and do sprints (1/4 mile).
Now, the 250cc record here is 10.92 seconds (its not a staright 1/4 it has an s bend) and there is no way in the world i could do that as it was a tuned TZ with an awesome rider onboard.
The 251-351 class record is a more doable 12.18 seconds, so how do i get the CC up on the NSR? is there a 300 kit? are they worthwhile? or get it bored out? or forget the record and just go and have fun on a standard bike?
The Honda dealer here used to have an NSR, MC18 maybe, and he managed 12.8 seconds on a standard bike, so i wonder how much work is required to get the extra ponies etc to get the time down.
Anyway, just a ramble from me, any thoughts would be good.
Hey mate.
You might want to disclose your location before anyone will be able to give you some advise especially on price.
However, i can tell you that your budget is a little slim no matter where your from.
If you have a read, you'll find most people will point towards the MC21 as its responds the best to simple modification. Not saying MC16/18/28 are no good, just takes more time and money to achieve the same result.
Tyga do a 300cc kit. You will find a link to their site in the ' LINKS' section of the forum _________________ Winning isn't everything, but loosing isn't anything
Depends what you`re after. You should be able to get a very good MC21 for that money, on a private sale. Obviously, if you go to a dealer you`ll have to pay more for the privelage!
I would think that you could get one for a bit less and then spend on modifying it to suit you.
That name, Bully? You didn`t used to race RGV250`s did you?
I bought some race RGV`s when I was a little more stupid a while ago. There were a load of receipts for a bloke named Bully.

Hi
You might find the MC18 requires less ( one wire to dissconect ) to derestrict than the later models but parts are getting harder to find.
That depends on the model. _________________ Andy.

Im in Jersey and there are no NSR's here (that i know of). There was a couple of MC16's or 18's back in the day but they have been shipped out of crashed.
Racing RGV's? i wish, i am useless and will need lessons to ride a sportsbike.
Supermoto was my bag and i am thinking that the lines will be pretty different. Might go on a superbike school next year.
I have seen a nice 21 SP for 3.5k but i have to travel to see/buy it. Spoke to my local Honda dealer who is also a bike guru. He said to up my budget and get a nice low mileage bike.
Very very close to buying the 21 SP as it seems to be what i want.
The 300 kit looks good, so after owning the bike for a while, i will invest i think.
I should wait really but i dont want to let a good bike slip through my fingers (again!!)
