Been playing with gearing all day. The stock for my bike was 15/42. I tryed 15/38 and this seemed much better for every day use up and down the motorway even blasts. A freind got me a 16t for the front so now im running 16/38. The bike seems to pull it pretty good up most hills (tho you do have to drop down one if you have to roll the throttle for anything) and will easly run flat out on the flat if you give it some stick. Is anyone else running gearing like that or am i well over geared for this kinda bike? lol first gear feels like my rc45 now.
Another local guy (Paignton) I knew a few years ago with an MC18, had gearing similar to this. It would just pull and pull and pull. Like you say, his 1st gear was the limiting factor in the end, and eventually he settled for 15/38.
His MC18 had been bought at an official Honda dealer in Canada, then shipped to the UK when he moved here. It came from Honda with the HRC delimiter already fitted, but apart from that (and a Gull-Arm that he fitted), it was stock as far as I know.
So, you are not alone!
Are you back with the stock pipes now, or did you find a solution with the TYGA's?
I tryed for days with the tyga pipes and no matter what i did i couldnt get within 10bhp of the stock ones. Im running the standard pipes now. I spoke to paul at tyga and sent him some graphs. Seems they have had a prob with some pipes. I guess i got a duff set!
They are sending me another set out to replace this set. As long as they make the same power stock i will be happy. last I heard was about a week ago so i may email him again tomorrow.
Other than that the bike is great. I made up some of those HRC F3 rear linkages and that raised the rear 1" and really stiffened it up (much better)
So now i have a bike that has a first gear like the RC, turns almost as fast and uses less fuel.. im rather impressed with the whole idea of an NSR lol
Stephhen, where did you get the HRC F3 linkages? I've been lookin for some way to raise the rear of my bike and stiffen it. Anybody have these available?
thanks
john
I made them up myself out of abit of H30 aluminium. I have a lathe, mill, etc at home so i make most of my own stuff. Andy (from nsr world) gave me the drawings for the HRC F3 set up (for the MC18) so i just made up a set.
I had a look at a freinds MC21 today tho and it looks like they wouldnt work with the longer shock so its only any good on the MC18.
