mc21 dead power valve...

Wed Mar 18, 2009 1:20 am » Post: #1 » Download Post

I guess the subject says it all..

To the point,,,

I'm picking I have a dead regulator and it's killed the pgm's power valve
circuit..

To me it looks like a fried transistor in the PGM. I don't know how to attach and image
to his posting....

wish i did....

If you look at the pgm with the white and black plugs facing away from you on the
left side below the black plug there are 4 transistors in a line.

the transistor on on the end of the this group of 4 seems to be heat damaged...

Are these parts used to drive the power valve servo ?

I have fixed PGM's before with dead capacitors but not a power valve
problem.....

I think I will be able to get the transistor part number off the part once
i dig it out of the potting mix...

Also any know the source of a new regulator ??..

Best regards
Ian

as far as i can tell its in the same position on the pgmII i have on my mc18

To me it looks like a dead fet a 2sk1059. in the pgm

I have done some digging and it seems that honda have
discontinued the regulator that that MC21 came with the sh609-12
and replaced it with a part numbered 31600-MV4-010

Has anyone tried one of these 31600-MV4-010 regulator on
an NSR ?..

I also have a regulator off an mc18 some place if I can find it
wil that work on the mc21 ?

I can also try the mc21 servo on my mc18 if they are the same part.

regards
Ian

Any reg/rec will work if you wire it in properly.

That sounds about right.

I'm going to wire in a 6 wire regulator as i'm told the 5 wire type that's on the
NSR is well know to kill pgm's.... i'm told the nc30's have the same problem....

I just tested the servo from my mc21 on my mc18 and it's fine...

So that leave my pgmiii....

ebay might help with a new regulator...

Regards
Ian
