new boy nsr 250 mc 18 help

hello to you all i am glad to be a member now and am after some help
1 my bike is an 88 mc 18 the engine number starts of with mc 16 ?? is thiscorrect
2 the cable that activates/pulls oil pump is adjustable but both locking nuts are undone do i just pull back throttle [engine off of course] and adjust it so full throttle is oil pump ful open or is there a procedure
3 my gearbox oil cap has a dipstick on it but it is only approx 3/4mm long [the small part at bottom with crs hatching on it, is this correct or has it been cut/snapped off,
4what gear box oil do you boys use, ie 10w/40 80w 75w etc etc
5 what 2 stroke oil do you use
what petrol do you use ie 95ron 99ron [vpower]
also my other bikes i own when i adjust the clutch i always have the leaver with free play as not to ride/slip the clutch the nsr has new clutch but with the adjuster fully in in the lever end there is no free play [wet clutch] i works fine but should there be free play/should i adjust it clutch end of cable there is a lot of questions there but i love the bike and it has been a dream to owen 1 for a long time [got it 2 days ago] and dond want to mess it up any hints/tips would be very welcome Very Happy

First tip from me would be to use the search! Every single one of your questions has been asked and answered many times before!

They aren't very forgiving on here if you can't be bothered to help yourself look for information!

1; yes, all normal NSR250 engines start mc16
2; oil pump setup details here
3; it's correct
4; Honda say 10w/40 in book.
5; I use Hein Gericke fully synth in the road bike, its the cheapest fully synth I know of, Castrol XR77 in the race bike.
6; 95 or 97 ron, heard some bad things about v-power.
7; my old wet clutch was like that, never really looked into why and it was fine for a couple of years.

Make sure you use a 2T that is made for oil injection. You don't want to use a pre-mix oil and risk clogging an injector. These are normally somewhat more cost effective than top of the line pre-mix 2T.
