Engine number

I have a engine with the number 1221720 on it , i can't find the model . Any help would be appreciated .

Not sure how how to tell from the number alone, but assuming it is an NSR engine (will start with MC16 *********), are the barrels cylindrical or hexagonal?

Hexagonal = MC16 or MC18

Cylindrical = MC21 or MC28

Actually, if one exhaust manifold faces forward and the other backwards = MC11

Not much help, but it's a start.

Hi ,

i just have the casings , no barrels . I am sure it's not from a mc 16 bike from the mounting at the rear . I was hoping to find out if it is a mc 18 or 21 . It has a wet clutch .

Could you tell the difference from looking at the parts manuals for the 18 & 21?
