MC21 F3 Carbs

Mon Sep 07, 2009 7:05 pm » Post: #1 » Download Post

So their has been a bit of talk on the forum on the pro's and con's of different carbs but what are the advantages of running F3 carbs over standard carbs?
To my eyes they look like the standard carbs with the oil feeds and power jet plumbing blanked.
Is this all their is to a set of F3 carbs, are they just a standard carbs with the road stuff removed or is their more to it?
Would it be worth fitting a set to my lightly modified mc21 or do you only start finding a benefit when you fit other parts of the F3 kit?

Not much point really on a road bike.

Most of the F3 internals (needles etc) will have to be junked anyway as they are designed for Avgas.

It also means you have to go premix as you said.

On an otherwise standard-ish bike they will show no improvment over a well set up pair of stock carbs.

Thanks for the info Steve, I think it was your post on the PB forum that caught my interest.
The Carbs are F3 units. WE found these infact gave better power and over rev compaired to the larger 39.5mm PWKs. They are also much nicer off the bottom.

I figured if the f3 carbs gave better power than the PWK's they must have some magic in them, but I guess the stock carbs are really that good then?
I'm not planning on selling them yet Craig but I will let you know. They have the needles and MJ holders missing but I guess if they are the same basic carb as stock then the normal hrc jet kit stuff will work?

Cheers
Paul

The stock NSR carb is very good. What makes the F3 ones even better is they are so basic. You don't need to run any of the air plumbing or the TPS etc (though you do if you want to run a normal PGM-III).

The F3 carb was designed to work without any of these as the F3 kit PGM doesn't use them.

Thanks Paul. No hurry but we have ZERO go fast parts over here in the states. I figured I should buy whatever I can, whenver I can so when I'm finally ready Stephen can help me be a hero.

Good luck,
Craig
