MC28 Titanium exhaust?

Thu Dec 17, 2009 3:09 pm » Post: #1 » Download Post

Hey guys, this is my first post here. Just want to say this is a very informative site, and I look forward to being a part of it.

Now onto the business at hand. I have purchased a 1995 NSR250SP that is bone stock so I'm looking to do some serious mods to make this a screamer. I have searched all over the web and have found many companies that make exhausts for the MC28, howver I can't find any that make titanium exhausts for it. Can anyone point me in the right direction? Thanks

Ethos used to make one but its now no longer available.

Second hand is going to be your only chance now I would think.

Hmmm, I guess I'll have to keep my eye out for them.

What pipes are recommended for the MC28? I've seen Tyga, Jolly Moto, anyone have suggestions on some pipes?

MM!

Those Type-D's are mild steel, not stainless.

So are these good pipes? If they are mild steel and not stainless, will I have a problem with corrosion?

Your best option is to have a set of pipes made to siut your tuining on the motor .

My stainless pipes have cracked on the welded joints a few times Crying or Very sad

I would agree with Neal. Also if the grade of stainless is 304 or 316 it will crack due to work hardening from the heat cycles. I think titanium will do the same.
Proper exhaust stainless (a low carbon grade) would be ideal but it is not cheap.
The Jolly Moto's come with a heat resistant coating to stop rusting.

That's my 2 cents for this year.

Aries,

You can still get JHA 304 under a new name FRS Racing. I purchased a set a little while back. Same exact make from same people with a new name. He also makes them in full ti but they are pretty pricey. I have his contact info if you need it.
