skimming an R head to make it SP

Can someone confirm how much to cut my R head to make it SP spec head?

Not that you have to, but I would advise grinding off the I.D. mark on the head once you've skimmed it, so it doesn't show as an SP anymore. You could even stamp or engrave it with an "R" I.D. if you are doing the job properly.

Although you know what will be what after modification, if you sell the bike it could cause the next owner problems if he goes by the OEM markings.

i didnt thought that good idea!
ill do it thanks, i just want to bring compression to stock cause now the rear setup is L cylinder with R head...

Then make sure it's not been done already!

An R and an SP head are quite easy to tell apart. If you take 0.2mm off an SP head you (just) run into the squish band so the "step" on an R head is twice as big as the one on an SP head.

This is of course little use unless you have both to hand.
