Always good to see the marketing and realise that Honda took the NSR extremely seriously. I have to say the MC16 F3 pics I had never seen......good find Wink

Certainly Honda's heyday! Not only for the NSR, but the CBR's and VFR's too. Now I find it difficult to differentiate between a CBR600, a CBR1000, and even an R1 or GSX-R from more than a few feet away!

The MC16 F-III was an awesome bit of kit, for 1987! 68hp "by the book" on 28mm non-PWJ carbs (so plenty of scope for improvement), and some real trick parts that never even made it onto the MC18 or MC21 F-III's! I've got all the kit for one less the 3-spoke Magteks. One day I'll get on with assembling it... maybe! Rolling Eyes

You are one lucky man, I would love an F-III spec MC16 or MC18 always liked the earlier NSR's the most. I agree that these bikes are from Hondas heyday, the newer models just dont catch me like these do

At least you've got a garage Si... I've not even got that! Laughing

We started on it in my mates kitchen, but he got kicked out of that place (not sure if it was anything to do with firing up his Bandit in the living room?!), and it's all been stored in my Dad's loft ever since!

It's the little things like the cold air feed tubes that come off the holes where the idicators once were and feed down the side of the frame into the airbox, and the HRC clutch/transmission assembly right off the RS that just make it so trick! HRC even made little scoops to fit in place of the front indicators to duct the air! Very Happy

The HRC frame doesn't look as obvious as the MC18 HRC frames, but you can see the subtle bracing if you know where to look. The swingarm's a little more obvious, and the fuel tank's quite trick with only the little RS style screw on cap and one-way valve! Cool

Dan's got one of those MC16 F3 clutch and gearbox assemblies on his race bike, the jammy git!
When I first saw it I thought he'd copied what Matt's done on his 300. Then i noticed the proper blanked off kickstart casting. Looks exactly like the RS side case but with the kickstart added. Also it's only got the one big bolt holding the gearbox sprocket on, RS style.
Just when you think you've seen it all, something new comes along to be jealous about!

Get your finger out Andy. By the time you get those bikes built you'll be too old to enjoy them!

You know, between Steve and I, I think we pretty much have a full set now... 87, 88, 89, 90, and 91 F-III's! Very Happy

Only problem is the 87, 88, 89, and 90 are all in bits! Laughing

every picture from that link was taken from my site, I have marks in the pages that most people will not notice I added when I made the original scans ten years ago from my personal collection...all that person did was download them from my site and post them on his...than again I just scanned them from the original Honda brochures and posted them on my site but did all that translation work...wow hard to belive 10 years went by like that.

All F3 NSR are fantastic but the two to have have to be the '87 MC16-F3 and the '91 MC21-F3.
