Where abouts in Bris are you? It's well worth paying for membership to this site, will allow you to access the wiring diagrams for the the MC18 which may be able to help you out. You may just have to swallow the cost of buying the wrong part. Tyga do a rec/reg for the NSR. As do a few other places around. Good luck!

Depends weather or not their wiring diagram is as inaccurate as the parts manual.
Go look up the part number for your regulator rectifier for the MC18 and you will see what I mean.

I'm on the northside of brisy near strathpine, and will look into membership sounds like good idea. I got a lot of help from Tyga, and should be puting on the new rec/reg tomorrow. But looks like I'll have check my wiring first because when I tested the plug that leads to the rec/reg the green wire was negative until the head lights were turned on then became positive, and I've been told this should not be happing and to look into it before plugging in the new part.

thanks michael

Thanks m8, thats very nice of you. Spent all weekend trying to find my short, all the green wires on my bike turn postive when i turn on the ING . But only about .04 of a volt then when i turn the parkers on it bump's up to about .08 then headlights 0.34v then highbeam 0.38v. Does not seem like a lot but enough to run the bike dead over a week if i ride at night.
