Hi all has anyone any idea's on what i can do for tidying my frame spans up? the two main spans that are just under fuel tank have pitting, iv'e read other post on here about alloy wheel cleaner but that does'nt seem to work, i know the frame is anodised,so can't think of what i can do are the frames same as vfr400? reason i ask is to give me more options to find frame protectors/covers. i bought some fablon from diy shop and cut strips of and stuck them on the frame on it looks ok but not mint anyone got any frame protectors /covers they want to sell me? there are some on
e-bay but don't want to pay £80+
Thanks
nothing like vfr 400, best thing i think you can do is strip it an paint it thats the route ive gone down, but my nsr was already apart _________________ if dont fall off every now and then your not trying hard enough
didn't think paint was much cop as it would easily scratch off, the vfr frame looks the same but have been told it's different, alot of things are the same mirrors, indicators, levers etc can anyone confirm the spans under the tank are different as there are a pair of carbon covers for the vfr i could get
the vfr frame is alot bigger than a mc21 i suggest that u park your 21 up next to a vfr to see the differences for your self as no1 here has replied has made me think that no1 knows,
i owned a nc30 many years ago and from what i can remember they may loock the same but are so much bigger the angles would be wrong.
u could buy some carbon sheeting and make your own just mock it up with card board first,
i personally am going to get my 21 frame painted when i get round to it a nice satin black
I'm not a fan of painted frames or frame guards / covers, but each to their own.
Personally, if the anodising was badly scratched or marked I would be stripping the anodising from the frame using either bead blasting (cheap and easy) or chemical dip (could be difficult to source locally) and then clean up the frame spars with various grades of Scotchbrite pads (Purple to start with going down to grey to finish of).
Remember to keep the 'grain' running parallel along the length of the frame spars.
It will need a bit of looking after to keep it mint but as long as you keep on top of it it will look good and you'll have that 'works' finish!
Obviously you would have to strip the bike down completely to do this sort of work.

This would undoubtably be the best option. If you could get the frame re-anodised, first you would have to remove all the steel parts from the frame like steering head bearings and rivi-nuts (unless the rivi-nuts are aluminium I cannot remember, it's been along time since I owned an NSR... ).
The caustic the platers use to strip the anodising would wreck any steel parts.
It'd look a hell of a lot nicer, even if you anodised it black. I reckon paint looks crappy, and would have to be done properly to avoid the usual chipped paint effect.
