Hi guys,
I only have an I pad and I am trying to add some pictures as an attachment of my mc16's.
It tells me the attachment is too big and can't exceed 256kb.
Please could somebody point me in the right direction to add photos to a new topic.
Thanks in advance.

Daz, the other option is there are many iPad aps that allow you to edit and resize images on your iPad, reducing your overall image size. Once you have resized/reduces image file size, you can then upload to the forums.
Thanks guys,
Computers,iPads etc are definitely not my thing.
Has taken me the last couple of hours to work it out.
Thanks again for advice.

Hi Daz.
I`ve got a couple of 21`s and a 28 but every time I see an MC16 or 18 I keep getting the feeling that I really want one.
Keep us up-dated with photos with any work you do on them.........Cheers Paul (Doncaster)
Hi Paul,
The mc16 has a lot of memories for me as I bought a brand new one in 1987 from Colin Appleyard in Keighley.
I raced it in the auto 66 championship, both proddie 250 and Junior Stock.
I got a best of 4th race finishes through out the following 3 years but it couldn't keep pace with the tuned tzr yamaha the top lads were on.
I remember wheeling it out of the back of the van at a carnaby practice day and the attention it got was unbelievable.
I could beat the standard yamahas depending who was riding them of course but for looks, exclusivity and of course build quality there was no comparison.
Performance wise your 21's and 28 will cream the 16 but for me it's all about the memories.
A mc16 would look good in your collection Paul.

The sad thing there was the lack of knowledge back in the day, and the availability of parts, particularly HRC race parts. A "standard" HRC MC16 TT-F3 is rated at 68hp, with its 28mm carbs and the bolt-on HRC bits... that would still cream most 3XVs and VJ23s today! Also, knowing what we know now, it's dead easy to get an MC16 well over 60hp without HRC bits. 2Smoke's MC16 was (is?) a rapid little bike at our track days! _________________ Andy.

Very true Andy, at the time I was racing one we were informed by Robin Appleyard that an F3 kit was available in Japan.
Unfortunately on builders labourer wages I couldn't afford it .
Because they were very rare in England at that time people assumed because it looked far superior to anything else they thought it was going to blow everything away on track.
We turned up at 3 sisters in Wigan and was told we couldn't race because it wasn't ellegible. After a bit of persuasion they relented as long as I didn't claim championship points or a trophy. They did agree to sign my licence for top 50 percent finish to gain my national licence.
Needless to say I never went back to that clubs meetings as my own mini protest.
Why would I when I had donington, cadwell, mallory and later on Scarborough to ride at.
I might change to mc18 bits sometime on the perceived track bike.
Wish I had full F3 kit, I'm sure everyone does.

The electronics hold the MC16 back a bit, and it's hard work with the '16 barrels, but I reckon good power is still available with stock parts.
The easy route is to modify some R2J parts, for the best chance of compatibility, but some machine work is still going to be necessary to get 60hp+.
My MC16 F3 barrels have the same (similar) narrow exhaust port windows as the stock bike though, and my HRC carbs are 28mm too, surprisingly. _________________ Andy.

Do you have a fully built up mc16 Andy with all your F3 bits on, or have you put them away for a rainy day?
We didn't have any tuning work done on the mc16 because I simply couldn't afford to be a guinea pig.
I bought a KR1S for the 90 91 seasons and had loads of work done by terry shepherd of Ormskirk.
It had bronze inserts in the cylinder heads to prevent detonation, increased compression, machined yamaha tz pistons, close ratio gearbox(5th 6th) and run off 50/50 4 star and avgas. I was always one step behind the riders who were supplied the experimental stuff first by tuners such as Graham File,Terry Beckett,Stan Stephens and my own supplier Terry Shepherd.
It was the late Mick Lofthouse who used to tip me off with the latest cheating etc that went on.
Anybody who thinks even club racing is cheap at proddie level is kidding themselves.
My late dad always said that the best put together bike he had ever worked on was the Honda mc16,I agree.

I have just about everything except the HRC wheels, all in boxes to be built. I even managed to find a genuine HRC frame!
I started on it, then had to move, and lost the use of somewhere to work on my bikes though. They've all sat unloved since. I have a 1989 MC18 F3 all in boxes too, most of it in mint condition. _________________ Andy.

When you get round to putting it all together please be sure to post pictures.
I would love to see what I missed out on.

The MC16 F3 kit is simply awesome. It's best part of an 87 RS, really! The transmission is one of the trickest parts, with an RS type lightweight clutch, but the airbox is so cool too. The indicators are removed, and little scoops attached in their places, and then tubes run from the scoops into the side of the airbox to feed in cool air.
All in all, it's a really trick bit of kit! _________________ Andy.
