MC28 PGM onto my MC21?

Sun Mar 13, 2011 6:12 am » Post: #1 » Download Post

Hi guys, first time poster so go easy!

I recently found an MC28 PGMIV unit with the cool card ignition at the local wreckers, and I'm thinking about transplanting it onto my MC21.

I've heard that the PGM3 can be a bit useless at the best of times (I even once heard it referred to as "broken" lol) and that the IV is way easier to tune, since you just need to get the different cards to change the ignition map.

How easy do you think it will be for me to make the swap? I am aware that I will need to do some rewiring but should I look into buying any other parts like a racing loom or the 28 flywheel? I figure since the 28 parts will be a little bit more technologically advanced it will be quite a big job.

Look forward to any feedback you might have, thanks!

Hi,

Quick reply: Don't do it....!!!!

Normal reply: You will need much more money to bring an MC28 CDI unit in a level of performance like the PGMIII unit...!!! Although in case you want do it there are two combinations

1st. - PGMIV CDI with normal card + MC21 Flywheel
2nd. - PGMIV CDI With HRC card + MC28 Flywheel

Cheers
Michael

Why? That's all I've got to say!

Change your source of information. Whoever you've been speaking too clearly knows nothing about NSR's, and is probably trying to fleece you out of a wad of cash for something you don't need!

If, IF your PGM-III is indeed dead for some reason, you'd actually be better off with a PGM-II on it than a PGM-IV, although a replacement/repaired PGM-III is the sensible way to go as it doesn't involve a harness change and all the other little odds'n'sods that go with it!

I've updated your poll for you! ROTFLMAO
