After several years of searching for an NSR250 I finally found one, in my town funnily enough.
On Saturday I'll be handing over the cash and will be the proud owner of a 1996 Honda NSR250SE. It needs a little bit of work doing (been in storage for 2 years), there are a couple of cracks in the plastics and a tiny dent in the tank, the forks need a little bit of attention as they have some minor greyish corrosion? but it will only take a few weeks of TLC to get it looking great.
The best part is the price. 12,000 UAE dirhams (around 2000GBP). It comes with a full stainless Arrow system, Ohlins rear shock & steering damper, HRC jetting kit & carbon front fender.
Images below.
Looking for some advice if anyone can help.
Whats the best way to get the forks looking new again? Is there a special metal polish to get the imperfections out?
Is there any recommended websites for getting hold of OEM replacement parts such as indicators, body panels, etc?
Does this mean you sold your Aprilia RS125? OEM parts can be sourced off auction sites, there is aguy here called Moriwaki Man that lives in Japan and he can help you out once you find the part you want.
2 different bikes in those pics.
A pair of race bikes. No lights or indicators.
If they have HRC wiring looms, which is likely, indicators etc wont work. You will need a new "road use" loom and ignition card.
Still, pretty cheap with trick bits they have.
Scotch bright pads are great for cleaning corrosion and baked on crap off all types of metals.
Looks like #7 still has it's 2t tank, #5 looks like it might be on premix.

Not different bikes.
Same bike. Second picture was taken 3 years ago with number 7 on it. First picture I took a few days ago where the previous owner had stuck a new number on it.
Would be very hard to find 2 different bikes, same colour, same pipes, same Ohlins shock...The oil pump and two stroke tanks were removed but I have them ready to refit. Bike has a normal loom, indicator wiring is there but I don't have the indicators yet, they are coming from Australia.
Below is a picture I took just yesterday with the headlight...
