Hello all, I'm new to the NSR250s. Bought my MC18 about a year ago, but sadly she needs a new crank. Anyways, there's been a little issue that's been bugging me.
I was browsing online, looking at pictures of MC18s and I noticed my bike's swing-arm looks different from the other R5Ks I've seen online. So I'm a little confused by the swing-arm that's currently on my motorcycle. The only history I know about the bike is that it has had it's rear wheel changed to a 17" wheel and aftermarket rearsets (Pop Malossi HRC stamped on them. Doubt they are authentic anyways).
So my questions is what swing-arm is on my R5K? is it a R4Js? or?
Welcome
Looks like r2j/r4j . R5k has groves in that match the frame and the rear brake is attached to a torque arm going to the frame.
Hope this helps. _________________ it wouldn't be fun if it was easy!
Thanks for the replies guys. Been trying to find out more about the history of my mc18. From the appearance alone, it looks like a R5K. with the R5K bodywork, 4 slot bellypan and high swept silencers. with the exception of the 17" rear rim and R2/4J swing-arm.
Makes me wonder, is mine an actual R5K or a R2/4J dressed up to look like a R5K. Are there any tell tale signs or stickers that'll help with identifying? Gave my mechanic a ring and even he isn't sure if it's a mk1 or mk2.
If it's an r5k there will be a hole in the frame ,on the right above the swing arm pivot ,where the torque arm bolts on.and the r5k rear foot pegs fold away earlier ones don't! _________________ it wouldn't be fun if it was easy!
