Finally come full circle

Tue Apr 26, 2011 1:56 am » Post: #1 » Download Post

After a 6 year absence from the NSR world I've finally come full circle and returned. Picked up an MC21R that needed a little TLC off that auction site about 12 months ago and have finally found the time and resources to start turning it into the bike I want.

To satisfy my own curiosity. I'm wondering if anyone has seen this bike in Melbourne. It's my first NSR and I'm just wondering whether it's still around or whether it's gone. I heard a rumour that it was dropped not long after I sold it but have no confirmation.

I know a bit about the history of the bike, it went through 2x 18 boys on their restricted license, another person, a forum member here and then it made it to you?

I saw you listed the pipes and the silhouette tail on the auction site, how did that go?

One of the seals have dried up as it is smokey on one cylinder on startup, it had some mild running issues as well from what I remember.

PM me if you want more detail.

Yeah the silhouette seat unit sold to another Melbourne NSR owner and the pipes are off to NSW.

The bike was in such a state when I got it. I wasn't prepared to actually ride it and I still haven't yet. When I first looked at it it wouldn't rev cleanly past 7k and I assumed the PGM was cactus as the power valves weren't cycling. But having had another look I found the power valves were so badly coked up they couldn't cycle. Engine now revs cleanly and the valves now cycle as they should.

Not too concerned about the bottom end I'm hoping to change it out for a dry clutch unit when I can get my hands on one.
