Brake noise

Wed Aug 31, 2011 7:29 am » Post: #1 » Download Post

Changed my front pads yesterday, the old ones were getting very thin!!

All working OK, everything tight etc. But they make a chirping noise at 30-40 mph. When I pull the lever in it disappears and then let it go and it comes back sometimes. Not sure if it happens at higher speeds as I can't hear it. Is it the pads bedding in or have I done something catastrophic with my inept sausage fingers?

OEM Honda pads btw, only done 30-40 miles on them. Discs seem OK, not rattling or anything.

Did you put a smear of copper grease on the backs?

No

They have those metal clip things on...anti squeak things I think??

So I smear copper grease on the flat bit the pistons push against?

Why do I need to do this btw?
