NSR250 plus owner wanted for speed test in Bike magazine

Wed Nov 23, 2011 6:59 pm » Post: #1 » Download Post

Good evening

Bike magazine would like to invite an owner and NSR250 to a speed test session at Bruntingthorpe Proving Ground, near Leicester, UK, next Friday Dec 2, 9.30am-1pm. The resulting article in the magazine will of course plug this excellent forum and its many useful products and services. I therefore hope this is a legal post.

We want to: photograph your bike professionally (you can have copies of the pics), talk to you about owning the bike, and invite you to have a razz down the two-mile runway. You don't have to ride but we've got a data logger which records speed accurately so it might be fun to bring your leathers.

In return you get: a slap-up breakfast in the WW2 canteen. The chance to ride your bike flat out. Some very nice pics.

The bike can be any NSR250 model as long as it's fairly standard. Please note that Bruntingthorpe has a noise limit: stock or equivalent pipes only. Being an old airfield it's also not a great place for corners. There are a couple, but really it's more of a straight line place.

(Incidentally if you have a Honda RC/NC30/45 or SP-1/2 we're after one of them too).

I'm Rupert Paul, a freelance writer for the magazine. If/when I get a rider I will put up a post saying the position is filled.

Thanks for reading.

Now now, let's not tempt fate. We don't want any talk of mechanical mayhem just yet.

It would seem everyone wants to get there hands on NSR's! Two articals in Practical Sports Bikes this month and last, plus Performance bikes and now BIKE. Our NSR's are going to be worn out.

In fact top speed of stock NSR's was only just covered today in the PSB topic a couple down.

I'm sure someone will rise to the challenge again.

Even my restricted mc28 will out drag the 112mph mc18 that has just been tested in the magazine Wink.

Are you saying a 40hp/112mph 28 will out-perform a 61hp/115hp R5K? I'm a bit confused... but I guess that's my age showing!

A lesser man would rise to the bait Leigh, although coming from someone who has more Lemons than the fruit and veg aisle at Tesco thats probably a little bit rich Very Happy

Myc28 revs right out in top, so it's only gearing that will make the difference, the mc18 is still geared for 112, I never said my mc28 was, it may take longer to get there though! Wink

You've only got from 9:30am til 1pm! MC28 will never have long enough to get to 12,000rpm! Laughing

Plus the tracks only 2 miles long. It'll never be enough for your '28.
