Ant Wests 500V

Mon Mar 05, 2012 9:57 am » Post: #1 » Download Post

With the work on Barry Venemans 500V coming on so well attention has now turned to its sister bike, Ant West's.

The chassis is in better condition so should take less to bring up to scratch. Its also fitted with a magnesium bodied rear shock compared to the alloy unit in Venemans. Four channel det counter is also fitted. Otherwise the bikes are almost identical.

I see a well-used, vented rear disc there! Wink

With a rather large sigh I'm pleased to say both are now back up and running. Looking and sounding well. Both myself (Steve) and my cousin Steve (it gets complicated lol) will be running the bikes in July for the first time. So far so good though.

It's taken just over 6 months to restore both bikes and while there are a few very small things to finish this is just about it. I'm over the moon really so thanks to everyone that has helped to restore these bikes back to a usable and ridable condition.

I'm glad you said useable and rideable condition Steven, cause it sure would be a shame to hang em on the wall after all that hard work, looking forward to a gander at Donnington.

Steve wont ride his in the wet but I will be riding mine no matter what the weather is like. I'll be bringing wets with me as it looks like we will be having a wet July.

Stupid rather than brave but there we go.

I know it will be a fantastic day. Andy and myself are bringing the big truck so will have room for the bbq etc, All we'll need is some shelter.

Ant West's got run up on the dyno.

Needs setting up but it's getting there.

It's got some grunt to it and needs it as well to pull that top gear!
