automix or selfmix

Tue Mar 27, 2012 9:21 am » Post: #1 » Download Post

i an using a 1987 mc16 motor out of a mc18 frame for a motor sport project ( superkart ) and have just notice the automix pump and cable on the top right of the crankcase, I do prefer to mix my own oil and petrol and take off the auotmix completly, has any one have comments about doing this.
is it possible to adjust the mixture using the automix.

I have been told that two strokes will sieze at the end of long straights when you back off the throttle to take a corner.
any thoughts please. Smile

You can get a blanking plug from Tyga Performance . If your jetting is correct you should not seize at the end of the straight . Are you sure that it is a mc16 motor , they all have mc16 on the engine casings so don't get fooled .
Read up about the mc16 , it may be a slow donkey that you are starting with .

So, which is it? You really need to identify the motor before anyone can offer decent advice. A 1987 motor does not have a G.P.S. or ECU controlled RC Valves.

Any motor after 1988 is easy to get over 60hp from, and while a 1987 motor can be tuned to high 60's, it will be more peaky and harder/more expensive to get there.
