NSR250RK MC16 Airbox

Thu Aug 16, 2012 12:57 pm » Post: #1 » Download Post

Anyone got one?

Ok, stop laughing... Laughing

Been doing a bit of searching 'round, and looking at Dan's NSR250RK MC16 that he has on his site, it looks as if it has some sort of 'carbs-enclosed' airbox with ducting from the front fairing. I would like one for my mc16, but the chances of finding one are more than likely slim to say the least! Anyone ever had a look at one? Any decent photos of what it looks like under the tank?

Thanks!
Paul

I know where there's one... and it looks brand new! Wink

The box itself is essentially just the same as the MC18 and MC21 airbox [air tray], but on the MC16 the indicators are removed, little scoops are fitted in place of them, and then the tubes run down to the side of the airbox.

It's all rather trick for 1987, really! Especially when you think competition would've been stuff like single-disc TZRs, RG250's, and that odd-ball KR250, all of which are barely able to pull the skin off a rice pudding! Smile

Ahh but I expect having one and parting with it are 2 very different things Laughing

I guess it's a narrower version of the 18/21 items? With the added cool air channels, I see what you mean, little inlets where the indicators would sit. How cool?

I was speaking to someone in Donno who had bought an mc16rk from Japan recently, any idea who it was?

Would love to buy that one of Dan's but as usual finances are in the way! Would be a neat looking thing to race, look the part unlike my b*stard of an mc16! Laughing

At the moment, yes! I still want to build mine when I can find somewhere to do it! (Dad's missus won't let it anywhere near the garage, and I have no facilities at home.)

All you need for yours is some proper MC16 bodywork! Smile

Thought so Laughing

The bodywork is changing over winter, but only to some NF5 stuff that I won the other night. Slightly more 'period' than the horrible pointy stuff thats on it now.

Got a small bit of sponsorship money the other day, so am buying a few choice bits for it, close ratio gearbox and a new set of forks, plus picked up an Ohlins shock for the rear so will get that rebuilt to suit..

Still waiting for some NSR-WORLD stickers though.... hint hint.... Wink

HEL Performance have stolen my cutter, and I left a box full of stickers in Steve's car eons ago, and keep forgetting to ask him where they are each time I see him!

I think Steve wants some stickers done for the spare 500 bodywork, so I will borrow my cutter back off HEL soon.

It would be nice to see the MC16 racing with an MC16 silhouette! Wink

Paul,

I think I have a 87/88 air box from an RS250 that might fit somewhere.
