Flywheel ID?

Fri Jun 15, 2012 10:36 am » Post: #1 » Download Post

I have a flywheel here, and the digits on it are:

LKZ11
037000-2641 12JZ

I'm hoping to fit it to my mc16 running a pgm2, and need to try and suss what model NSR it is off to be able to hopefully work out the ignition timing!

Any ideas anyone?

Cheers
Paul

2641 is the code for the mc21 flywheel.
Take care as I believe it has more static ignition advance than the mc18 flywheel.

I'm about to do the same thing tomorrow (mc21 flywheel - nh3 PgmII), sounds like a good combination for making holes in pistons. Laughing

Hi mate thanks for the reply.

Could you let me know how you get on with the timing setup please, I was trying to work out ways of timing mine up, possibly checking the timing on the '18 flywheel with a strobe and marking that up, then fitting the '21 one and doing the same. Maybe adjust with some stepped woodruff keys or work out a way of moving the pickups?

Cheers
Paul

You can use a dial indicator to find tdc and a degree wheel on the flywheel, not really accurate but close enough.
If I were you, I would use a woodruff key to retard the static advance a couple degrees and/ or start with the richest main jets I have.

What is the timing on the mc 18 and what is the timing on the mc21 ? I allways just looked at the plug burn back and worked to that with different keys .
