mc-18 gear selection problem.

Wed Jul 25, 2012 8:52 pm » Post: #1 » Download Post

Any one help.
Took my mc-18 out tonight and after around 10 x miles started to struggle to select any gears.
Pulled over at lights as couldn't even move gear lever into any gear let alone neutral.
Managed to crawl home.
Clutch bites at normal position ( about an inch from fully out ) but when on paddock stands and trying to
select gears with my hand and spinning the rear wheel you have to apply loads of pressure on the gear peg before it goes in.
Sometimes tapping the peg a few times before it goes in as if something is jamming ?
Recently changed gear box oil with Silkolene SAE 75-80 Transmision oil. ( crankcase rating SAE 10W-40 )
After draining I replaced oil with 0.5L of new.
Any ideas ?????????
Have i done anything wrong, has always been OK before.
Thanks people.

Mod edit: Please do not use TXT speak in posts, there are a large number of members who do not use English as their first language and thus do not understand "az" and "has" are the same word.
Checking your spelling wouldn't hurt either Wink
Thank you
FY

Well this is just stating the obvious i suppose,

but you really need to pull off the clutch cover (and probably clutch as well) and check out the gear change mechanism.
