Pipes quiet loud?

Sun Aug 05, 2012 9:51 am » Post: #1 » Download Post

As mentioned previously I'm new to the nsr, in fact the one I bought is the first one I have seen in the flesh.
I have a number of rgv s and I'm surprised how much louder than the rgv the nsr is, it's nearly as loud as my race rs125 at standstill.

The pipes don't look rebuildable, is that correct? Is mine normal or just no insulation left?

THANKS NEIL

They should be as quiet as any other road legal pipe - I had mine tested on a track day and they were within road bike limits (unlike the race pipes which are 105dB)

I suspect the sound insulation has died or been removed.

I've not seen any way into a Honda end can. If you're worried about keeping it original Tyga cans are the way to go.
Mine had an MOT advisory from the scooter shop where I had my MOT this year Smile . Strange 'cause it's quite quiet at idle

I'll try soaking them and flushing with kero or petrol to start with, and see if that can bring them back to some life. I have some tyga silencers on an rgv, I can swap them over for a trial run and see what difference there is. The tygas are a nice job.
