MC18 cylinders

Mon Nov 19, 2012 4:43 pm » Post: #1 » Download Post

Hi, I read a few posts about "H" and "L" cylinders and checked some of my motors to see what I had. I have a R5K track bike I got from a kid from Japan and it has cylinders marked "F2" and uses a R2J CDI and Dogfight chambers. Can anyone tell me anything about these cylinders? Thanx in advance.

"H" and "L" are only used on the MC21 and MC28. They are 90~97 "R" and "SE/SP" cylinders.

Thanks for that Andy. Just stock barrels. Are the 88 and 89 barrels the same? It came with a 88 parts bike as well and also has a set of "H" barrels and heads. It has CDI ignition on it but I have the PGMII for it as well. It has 88 and 89 carbs. I am unsure if it was running the old or newer barrels and carbs since the top end was off it when I got it. Not sure if there are any changes to the flywheel and wiring harness etc. Any info on how to figure it out, what to look for or if it matters at all would be helpful. I'm not sure what Kostas was getting at about the dogfight's? I thought they were decent pipes. I have a set of Nikon GP's as well if they are better? Seems like this Kid had it sorted as it has a nice Kayaba remote reservoir shock, 17" rear wheel, braided lines all around and Beet rear sets. I'd also like to know if there is any advantage in using the "F" barrels since I understand they make good power or are the "H" barrels better. Thanx

Never had any trouble with Dogfights personally. Good power, over-re and torque.
