NS444CR / CBR Race Bike Project

Thu May 30, 2013 7:27 pm » Post: #1 » Download Post

Hi,

A couple of pictures of my project bike, it's based on a CBR250R frame (more room for everything between spars) & swinging arm and has an NS400R bottom end with CR125 crosser barrels bored out to 148cc to give 444cc.

Latest bits fitted :

Marchesini wheels
Ducati 999 320mm front discs
CBR600RR 2006 front end
Tyga NSR250 Suzuka 8hr endurance race fairing
Honda RS250 / 2010 race seat

Another sub frame needs making to fit the seat better, pipes need making, swinging arm top bracing, wiring, clocks mounting, painting & setting up.

The tank is to be modified, it's going to have holes / tubes cut in it either side where the tank is recessed for the bars at full lock, the holes will have wire mesh covers to act as primary air filters, the holes will feed cool air into the top of the air box (above a secondry filter to slow the air down) rather than drawing warm air in from the rear cylinder and pipe. The upper vents in the top fairing should aid induction by flowing air upwards towards the vents, can't wait to hear the induction roar / noise !

Hopefully if everything goes okay it should be finished while the sun still shines this year, if it ever decides to come out that is !

Cheers Ian

Love the NS projects! Hopefully we'll see a few at the Donington track day in July.

Keep us posted on the updates.

It certainly is! 30th July... make sure it's written in bold, red ink, and underlined in your diary! Laughing

An idea of other NSs that may/will be coming?

Looking good Ian.

It'll be interesting to see how the tank mods work out. Can't be any worse than drawing air from above the rear cylinder..

I hope you all had a good day.Sorry I didn't make it. As I do not have a driving licence I rely on others. Unfortunatly all 5 drivers were off Island anyway.
A year building a bike for 1 meeting just sucks.!!!!

Only good news is 1(I own 3) of my KTM RC8R's broke an 8 year old record on the 1/4 mile sprint over here.
Funny thing is that I have offered the full race version(17 built in the world) but no takers, to get a record that I think can't be broken.!!!

All the best

Pete
