Hi guys.
Following the manual for setting up the power valves mine doesn't seem to work the way the book says it should. We've tried twice now with 2 pgm's to see if that's at fault but no diff. When taking the throttle sensor apart it says the servo should move to hi position so as to allow setting of the rc valves, mine doesn't.
Yet connected and the bike running it cycles between mid and Lo on the servo when the engine is gently revved etc, and the two valve wheels move in unison. So logic says the servo and valves can't be seized etc.
A box in the manual under maintenance of rc valve and setting it up seems to indicate that showing Error 3 when the Tps block is disconnected says the TPS sensor is faulty. But how can it when the bike seems to ride ok and no errors showing?
I can only think it's either a faulty throttle position sensor as the book suggests, or servo motor. The manual does give methods to check these two components out but this requires a special electrical connection block.
In the back of the manual it goes into great detail about error codes 2 or 3 on the display to indicate I have a servo or throttle issue. Also the bike seems to go quite well with good spread of power. So I'm at a loss knowing where to go next.
I plan to take a look at the Rc valves to check for carbon build up, if nothing else other to give piece of mind they're clean and move ok etc.
Not having another to compare to or borrow bits I'm hoping that someone on here has come across a similar issue and would like to hear from you.

I am no expert on the MC28.
However, I would expect that if you disconnect the TPS, then of course you will get an "Error 3" implying that the TPS is faulty. It is disconnected, and therefore not working.
Maybe I have misinterpreted what you have said? Just trying to get the obvious stuff out of the way here. _________________ [color=#808080][size=9]Yes,.. I too know how to waste Time and Money,...
Thanks for the reply.
Yes I only get the Error 3 come up when the throttle sensor block is disconnected and it goes away when plugged back in.
The book is very specific with regard process. As in pgm card out and kill switch to off. Then throttle sensor disconnected, followed by pgm card back in and kill switch on. Then reverse for when plugging back in.
So I'm wondering if I'm missing something too. I'll contact my local Honda dealer to see if they have this special connection to test the servo, solenoid and throttle sensor wiring.
Try leaving the kill switch on, then inserting the card with the TPS sensor disconnected. I seem to remember having to do that at first, and it now it does it off the switch. Worth as try mate.
