I have Honda RS250 forks, and they, along with the larger rotors and Brembo calipers that go with them, are awesome in terms of improved handling and braking. Look the bomb too! Not as easy to source as some other options though. _________________ -Jim

Thank you for the reply. The complete swap out to RS250 shocks seems like the answer. Any sources? Do I check with the race crowd? Man you have been around here a long time! You were around when I first purchased my bike! And you helped me then. Thanks-

I run RVF forks on my 1990 SP, and they work great. I think they can be found much easier than the RS250 ones, and usually not as expensive. I've seen sets on that Japanese auction site, but in order to buy from there you're going to need a broker.
Whether you'd consider the RVF fork an "upgrade" is discussable.
Yeah, they're upside down so look nice and the take the bigger disc (which you may or may not want) but the internals are no better than the SP NSR, they may even be worse.
Also you'll need to spend some money on them, the RVF400 roadbike weighs something in the region of 170kg _________________ Please do not PM me technical questions, if you can't find it on the Forum start a thread
For what it is worth I believe the RVF forks have more upgrade options due to the damping rod used. But in stock trim agree with Fonty, they are nothing more than a slightly problematic cosmetic upgrade.
I probably don't need to say, but if you do any replacement fork option (other than from another NSR), you will need to take care to set up the geometry carefully.
Hey Michael, yeah, I'm pretty much older than dirt. I actually got my rs250 forks off Yahoo Japan with the help of a Navy guy based there who I contacted, I think, on http://www.400greybike.com/. It was just perseverance and a lot of luck, really. But if you have contacts with the race community, that is definitely worth a try. Good luck hunting. _________________ -Jim
