Dog Fight Expansion Chambers

Mon May 20, 2013 11:30 am » Post: #1 » Download Post

Does anyone know if Dog Fight expansion chambers are made to be used without the crush washers? They have o-rings and seem to fit better without crush washers?

Thanks.

If the dog Fight exhaust uses a manifold that the actual chambers slip onto (and that part has an O-ring where the manifold/chamber slip together) then you want to have some form of seal between the manifold and the cylinder/exhaust port. The stock cylinders do not have a smooth surface for matting a manifold to, so you need either the big cooper crush washer/fitting or some other form of seal (never seen any other seal system for this).

Without a seal, you will get leaks from that attachment point.

The engine has to run for them to leak, Si!

If there is not a good fit while using the copper washers, do not overtighten the exhaust nuts as the exhaust flange will bend and eventually leak.
