Anybody running one of these fairings?
If so, have you opened up the V piece a little more (cut slots) to allow more air to flow over the engine?
It's just that I've noticed my NSR seems to run at a temperature of about 65C and if stopped for a bit can nearly hit 70C.
This has me worried as I think it's way too hot. 55C would be more like it for normal running, at least that's what my RGV used to run at.
I was just thinking that the standard fairing is a lot more open than the Tyga.
Now, I know the weather is a lot hotter than normal at the moment, approx. 26-28C and this does not help cooling.
Would opening up the V piece more be worth it to help cool the engine more?
I just feel that the fairing is enclosing the engine too much and not letting enough air through to disperse the build up of heat.
I don't want to go modifying it if it will have no real effect as I like it the way it is but if it would help cool the engine, so be it.
Bike is standard apart from a set of Dog Fight pipes, Tyga 500 style fairing and wire splice done.
Hey Bushman, remember meeting you at the Silver Springs bike show about 2 years ago.
What temp does your road going NSR usually run at?
I just remember the RGV I had used to run at about 55C with standard fairing and just like the NSR it had cut grills in the V Piece.
All my 250 NSR's have run at between 60-65deg. The only one that ran higher was my 300 which used to sometimes run in the 70's until we got the new head gaskets.
Most of my 250's and the 300 ran a tyga fairing with no issues. _________________ If I have to take the carbs off once more...
