What's This?

Found this on the shop floor. Vaguely remember fussing with it when rebuilding carbs but can't for the life of me remember where it came from. Opened up carbs thinking it might go around emulsion tubes but does not seem to fit. Looked at carb diagram and can't find anything that looks like it. Prepping for first track day and want to make sure everyhting is in order.

Hey bud,

Doesn't look like any NSR part, maybe from another bike ?

Some bikes, mostly MX I have seen has that clip over the emultion tube/main jet area. Think it is to stop the fuel from gushing around in the float bowl.

Cheers,
M

Had my engine apart a couple of times, and I don't recall ever seeing a piece like that...

Looks like it belongs in the float bowl. Possibly a shield/shroud for the main jet.

My guess was wrong. Came from an XR100. Sorted it this weekend. Been having problems with clogged jets in all sorts of engines. Been told today's gasoline with 10% ethanol is the cause. That only "fresh" gasoline should be used. Am thinking of using VP C12 for term storage in engines used infrequently. Some carbies are just too difficult to drain.
